A cute and quaint puppet theatre for children and families; the Little Angel Theatre has been at the forefront of innovative theatre since opening in the 60’s. It combines local appeal to its borough of Islington, as well as creating imaginative productions that go on to tour the UK and abroad. It was described by Time Out as an ‘icon of North London Childhood’ in 2016. As a theatre of puppetry, the venue not only produces spectacular and interesting shows, but it also offers education and development for puppeteers and puppet makers, hoping to preserve the creative art form. This passion for puppetry began with John Wright, who lead a group of puppeteers in a small hall in Islington. They later opened the Little Angel Theatre and began creating full scale shows for the first three decades, participating in puppet festivals and working with musicians and other artists.Wright passed away in 1991, leaving behind his legacy in the world of puppetry. The Little Angel Theatre retained its reputation and artistic merit. It continued to see success, and in 2014 it opened Little Angel Studios close by as a dedicated space for developing artistic talent. They also work with local communities and sponsors to be a go-to place for families in the area.
