See TINA: The Tina Turner Musical at the Aldwych Theatre

The Tina Turner Musical is the product of a creative dream team. It features a book by Olivier Award-winning playwright Katori Hall, direction by acclaimed Phyllida Lloyd, and a catalogue of music from Tina’s career. Tickets to see The Tina Turner Musical will take you on an epic journey of the 12-time Grammy Award-winner’s journey to fame. And how she broke the rules to get there. Tina Turner has had one of the most emotive and inspirational life stories. She was born Anna Mae Bullock in Tennessee, but grew into Tina – the Queen of Rock’n’Roll. Her career traverses decades, taking off in the 1960’s and lasting over half a century. She is the 200 million record-selling artist with the signature dance moves. Her vocals and ferocious energy have made her one of the industry’s living legends. But there’s more to Tina than fame… The musical is based on the singer’s autobiography ‘I, Tina’. It documents her life from when her parents abandoned her, through her turbulent relationship with singer Ike Turner, to overcoming the obstacles she faced as a Black woman. The 2 hour 24 minute show explores her highs and lows, success’ and comebacks, witnessing one of the most remarkable biographies played out. Of course, with Tina’s portfolio of chart-topping hits, the soundtrack to the musical is equally majestic. Expect to hear songs like ‘A Fool in Love’, ‘River Deep Mountain High’, ‘Disco Inferno’, ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It?’ and ‘The Best’. The show has been described as ‘roof-raising’ and a ‘full-blooded rock show’ so expect to dance your socks off. While any Tina Turner fan will undoubtedly enjoy this tribute, the musical is also educational and moving for everyone. The talented cast portrays significant people in Tina’s life, and bring about a message of hope and defying the odds. The show premiered at the Aldwych Theatre in 2018. It has already extended to Hamburg, Germany and scheduled for Broadway. Be one of the first to see The Tina Turner Musical with tickets to the West End show now!

First built in 1905, the Aldwych has welcomed a whole host of famous productions, from 'A Streetcar Named Desire' to 'Fame' and 'Dirty Dancing'. The theatre has undergone extensive restoration since 2012, bringing it into the modern era and hopefully making way for another century of great entertainment at the Aldwych.
