Harlequins

Biography

Frequently competing in the English Premiership, the Harlequins are based in Twickenham Stoop, named after Adrian Dura Stoop who captained the national team and positioned adjacent to Twickenham Stadium. They formed in the mid 19th century, but became more competitive during the latter half of the 20th century thanks to the implementation of the leagues. The Harlequins, otherwise known as the ‘Quins, have been successful in a range of tournaments. They have won the John Player Cup, the Pilkington Cup, the European Shield, of which they were the first British team to do so, and many others. Their home games played at the stoop facilitate just under 15,000, showcasing their prominence in English rugby. Its team is composed of many world-class players, where the it actually holds record for the highest number of players from one club to play in a Rugby World Cup final. Many of its notable players hail from England, however some are from Argentina, Wales, France and other countries.
