The distinctively deep voice behind tracks like ‘Barcelona’, ‘Shotgun’, and ‘Paradise’ has embarked on a UK tour in celebration of his new album ‘Staying at Tamara’s’ released in March 2018. George Ezra has topped charts across the world with singles like ‘Budapest’, and his former album ‘Voyager’ made it to number one in eight countries, including the UK.
His second album has also followed course, topping the UK chart and gaining a Top Ten ranking elsewhere. Tracks on ‘Staying at Tamara’s’ range from upbeat tempos and Afrobeat rhythms to soul-baring songs and solo guitar melodies, arguably showing the artist’s full range of talent. NME describes it as the blend between ‘new-found maturity and crowd-pleasing choruses’, setting Ezra up for ongoing success as he continues to please fans.
The album was the result of Ezra’s personal efforts to seek solitude and overcome anxieties of the consuming work surrounding his first album. He spent time in rural England and Barcelona, sparking inspiration through folk sounds and gospel choirs. The new side to Ezra’s work has generally been well-received.
Ezra’s success is attributed to his mature and compelling voice, his singer-songwriter genes (where brother Ethan Barnett is also in the business) and his inspiration; Bob Dylan. Born in Hertfordshire, George Ezra Barnett moved to Bristol in 2011 where he worked on his craft...and it wasn’t long before he released two EPs and began gaining fame for his music.
