Taking their name from the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band song, Death Cab for Cutie began as a solo project from Ben Gibbard, eventually picking up members Nick Harmer, Dave Depper, Zac Rae and Jason McGerr. They debuted in 1998 with 'Something about Airplanes', going on to release 'We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes' in 2000 to considerable success among the indie community. It was their third album 'The Photo Album' that saw the band first enter the mainstream with a chart hit, leading to their fourth album 'Transatlanticism' which saw them achieve commercial success. The band was picked up by Atlantic Records and began work on their label debut 'Plans', and have since released 'Narrow Stairs', 'Codes and Keys' and 'Kinstugi'. 2018 has seen the band tease another full album, said to be coming out in August.
