British Formula 1 Grand Prix

Biography

Since the first championship season in 1950, Britain has been a cornerstone of the global racing industry. The British race is the oldest in the entire Formula 1 calendar, and it has been one of just two locations where the Championships have been staged every season, birthing British greats like Jim Clark, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. Of course, one cannot forget how the iconic Silverstone Circuit has added to the reputation of the British Grand Prix. Following the end of the Second World War, Britain was left with no major tracks but plenty of airfield, and it one airfield outside of the small village of Silverstone that found itself being converted into the centre of international motor racing in Britain. From then on, millions have gathered throughout the years to take in the excitement and thrill of the British Grand Prix, seeing in historic moments like Senna's 1998 win in monsoon-like conditions and Lewis Hamilton's rise to success.
